Kevin Fowler, who has served as both a teacher and coach at Warrenton High School for 10 years,  has been hired to be the new Activities Director for the Warren County R-III School District, effective July 1, 2018. Fowler replaces Robert Spoonster, who is leaving after five years as Activities Director to take over as a middle school principal in Louisiana, Missouri.

Fowler started teaching in Warren County R-III in 2007, and has served as an assistant varsity wrestling coach, head wrestling coach, an assistant varsity football coach, and a middle school football coach.

“It’s been a professional goal since entering the educational field to be in a leadership role. I really have no doubt that the successes I’ve had in life are a direct result from my involvement in extracurricular activities and the coaches/sponsors that led those programs,” said Fowler. “These positive experiences taught me the life lessons that led me to college and where I stand now both personally and professionally. I really have a great amount of genuine gratitude to the experiences I've gained from extracurricular activities and hope to provide the same experiences and essential skills to the students of our district. This position opened up and I knew there was no other place I'd rather lead than where my family and I call home.”

Fowler has been married to his wife, Leslie - who retired from the district this year - for 25 years. Their daughter Baylie, a graduate of Warrenton High School, is a student at Lindenwood University. Their son, Gable, is a sophomore at the high school. His family has deep roots in the district, and he wants to see things continue to improve.

“I want to instill a positive and infectious culture that promotes the educational values of extracurricular activities while striving to unite the school and community,” said Fowler. “We've had a great deal of success in our extracurricular activities in recent years, and our extracurricular programs continue to be competitive and achieve success within our conference and at the state level. Our coaches and sponsors continue to give our students extra opportunities to be successful in their activities.”

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Aaron Jones is glad to have Fowler taking on a new role, while acknowledging the impact Spoonster has had.

"We want to thank Mr. Spoonster for all he has been able to accomplish over the past five years, and are confident that Mr. Fowler will step in and be a perfect fit for us," said Dr. Jones  "He will undoubtedly help our students continue to achieve great things, and we are very excited to have him moving into this role. We are definitely in good hands."

Fowler, meanwhile, is anxious to get started in his new job.

“I'd like to thank everyone for the amount of support my family and I have received from the community through the years,” he said. “I'm very thankful and proud to call Warrenton home and I'm looking forward to making an impact in this new position.”
